2010: Fimian comes close
Keith Fimian waged an impressive campaign for Congress in 2010. He came within 0.5% of defeating incumbent Democrat Gerry Connolly - despite an onslaught of Democrat attack ads in the closing weeks of the campaign. 2009: McDonnell, Bolling, Cuccinelli in landslide
Virginia voters elected Republicans to the top three state offices in Nov. 2009 by wide margins - the largest GOP win since 1993. Bob McDonnell was elected Governor, with a decisive 59-41 victory over Democrat Creigh Deeds. Voters also re-elected Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling over Jody Wagner, and chose Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General over Steve Shannon.
