Fairfax City Fairfax County Prince William County
Campaign 2005
Statewide offices

Virginia elected its three statewide offices in 2005. Republicans in the 11th District and around the Commonwealth were united behind Jerry Kilgore to take back the Governor's Office. The entire state House of Delegates was also up for election.

Nominations for the three statewide offices were decided by a statewide primary on June 14. There were also contested nominations for five seats in the House of Delegates in five House districts from our area (35th, 37th, 41st, 50th and 67th Districts), also decided by the primary.

While we were disappointed by Kilgore's loss and the defeat of several delegate candidates, Republicans can take some heart from the 2005 election. We won two of the three statewide races, with the election of Bill Bolling as Lt. Governor and Bob McDonnell as Attorney General. We also maintained a strong GOP lead in the House of Delegates.

We thank the thousands of 11th District Republicans who volunteered for our candidates, and who voted in the primary and general election.
