Convention 2006 Cancelled!

The 11th District Republican Convention for 2006, which had been scheduled for Saturday, May 20, at Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, has been cancelled.

Any registered voter in the 11th District, who is in accord with the principles of the Republican party, was eligible to participate in the District Convention. Those wishing to serve as delegates could sign up through their local Republican Committees.

The only item of business at this year's District Convention was to elect the 11th District Republican Chairman for the 2006-08 term. Only one candidate filed for the position (incumbent Becky Stoeckel), which left nothing to be decided by convention delegates.

The District Committee decided to cancel the convention, so that our party activists may use their time that day more productively. The Committee thanks everyone who had signed up as a delegate. Refunds of filing fees are available upon request; contact .

More convention-related items:

Those offices will be up for election again at the 2008 Convention. Read more about the 2004 Convention.
  • Other conventions: Republican Conventions were held in several other Congressional districts in Virginia during May 2006. The 8th District Convention was held May 20 in Arlington; and the 10th District Convention was held that same day in The Plains. There is no GOP state convention in 2006.
