Campaign 2005 Va. House of Delegates

All 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates were up for election in 2005.

Republicans took control of the State House in 1999 for the first time ever. In 2001, the GOP substantially increased its margin statewide; and the party retained a strong edge in both 2003 and 2005. As of Jan. 2006, the breakdown is 58 Republicans, 40 Democrats and 3 independents (2 of whom caucus with the GOP).
